Gas Prices in Ireland Compared 

Bord Gais Energy (which is owned by UK-based firm Centrica) has 6 competitors for the supply of Natural Gas to households in Ireland. The other gas suppliers in Ireland are Flogas,  SSE Airtricity, Electric Ireland, Energia and Prepay Power .

All the energy suppliers increased gas prices by large amounts in 2022 – but prices began to fall again in late 2023 and early 2024.

Which supplier has the cheapest gas prices in Ireland ?

Very High Gas Usage


Bord Gais Energy has the lowest price over one year – at €2060

Flogas has the next lowest price at €2076 in year one.

A large household with more than 5 or 6 occupants using gas for cooking, heating and hot water could use as much as 20000 kwh of gas a year. This is almost double the average usage.


High Gas Usage


Gas consumption of 15000 kwH per year might be typical for high-usage households. Generally speaking, gas usage will be higher than average in larger homes with four or more occupants using gas for heating and hot water.

Bord Gais has the lowest price over one year – at €1566

Flogas has the next best price at €1595 in year one. (fixed rates)

Average Gas Usage


Bord Gais Energy has the best deal for average-usage households . Their 20% off deal works out at €1170 in year one. (includes €50 welcome bonus)

Best for Low Gas Usage :

Smaller households will use less gas. Typical usage for a 1 or 2-person household might be 5000kwh per year.
