Can you Buy Cryptocurrency on DEGIRO Ireland ?

DEGIRO does not allow trading in Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies. You should try Etoro Bux Zero or Coinbase for that.

However – on DEGIRO it is possible to buy shares in Bitcoin trackers (ETPs).
A Bitcoin tracker can give investors exposure to Bitcoin without the technical challenges of purchasing bitcoin directly from cryptocurrency markets such as setting up a digital wallet, managing cryptographic keys, or trading on unregulated crypto exchanges.

Exchange-Traded Products (ETPs) are investments that are traded on a stock exchange and that invest in underlying securities or assets. They often passively follow an index or other benchmark, but they may be actively managed.

Some examples of Bitcoin Trackers available on Degiro include :

  • Iconic Funds Physical Bitcoin ETP – This Exchange Traded Product (ETP) tracks the price movement of Bitcoin as referenced by the NYSE Bitcoin Index. Each share of the ETP is fully backed by a coin entitlement of 0.0001 bitcoin.
  • CoinShares Physical Bitcoin (Ticker: BITC) This is physically-backed ETP secured by the underlying bitcoins.
  • WisdomTree Bitcoin (ETN) . This exchange-traded note is physically secured by Bitcoin. The reference price is the Bitcoin settlement price on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME).

Note – These types of crypto investments are high-risk investments. You could lose your money.

Buying shares in companies that are heavily involved in cryptocurrency such as COINBASE – would be another way to use DEGIRO to invest indirectly in the Bitcoin and Crypto industry. Coinbase shares are available on the Frankfurt Xetra exchange. (US19260Q1076)
