For several years we got used to Budget day in the first week of December – just before the start of the Christmas Shopping season.
Since Budget 2014 – the date of the Budget announcement has been moved to early October to fit in with EU budget dates and timetables.
The date of Budget 2016 will be October 13th 2015 – which falls on a Tuesday.
With the Dail on their long summer holiday until September 22nd – there will be little scope for leaks and rumors than ther was in the days of December budgets. Of course – some of the good news will always be gradually leaked by the government to try and get everyone on their side.
We have some idea of the general scope of Budget 2016 – it is generally expected to be positive with tax cuts and spending increases overall.
