Finance Minister Michael Noonan said this week that he still intends to move the annual taxation Pay and File dates forward …but not in 2014.
He said it would be more appropriate to make any changes in the Finance Bill 2014 , then any changes would take effect from 2015 at the aerliest
The Pay and File date is being moved because of the annual Budget now taking place in October instead of December. By getting tax returns and payments made earlier it will give the government more accurate figures on the annual tax take and make budget forecasting easier.
The 2013 pay and file dates were 31st October for paper returns and 14th November for online returns .
In the future these dates could be moved to September or even as early as June.
