At the start of this Covid crisis – all social welfare and state pension payments were changed from weekly to fortnightly to try and reduce visits to Post Offices. You can read more about that here.
In August many Welfare Payments will go back to Weekly Payments. The majority of people affected will start getting weekly payments in the week beginning 17 August 2020. But some people will get their first weekly payment in the week beginning 10 August 2020.

Social Welfare say that they will continue to review the schedules for the payments that continue to be paid fortnightly in line with public health guidelines.

Post Office Collection
Back in March, Social Welfare extended the number of days within which a person could collect their social welfare payment at a post office from 20 days to 90 days. The Department is changing that number of days back to 20 for the following payments –
Jobseekers, One-Parent Family Payment, Farm Assist, Back to Work Enterprise, Back to Work Family Dividend, SWA Supplements
This change takes effect for payments on or after 10th August 2020
On May 18th the following payments already reverted to being paid weekly.
