All Welfare Payments To Be Paid Weekly Again.

At the start of this Covid crisis – all social welfare and state pension payments were changed from weekly to fortnightly to try and reduce visits to Post Offices. You can read more about that here.

In May – some payments that were only paid to banks were changed back to fortnightly.
In August several more Welfare Payments reverted back to Weekly Payments.

All Weekly Again From Nov 2nd

It has been confirmed that all remaining weekly social welfare payments, which had been moved to a fortnightly schedule will be again paid weekly with effect from Monday, 2nd November.

This is still going ahead even though the country is in Level 5 lockdown.

One reason for this change happening now is probably to help make the payment of the 2020 Christmas Bonus simpler.

People affected will receive their last double week payment in the week commencing Monday, 19th October and will revert to receiving their payment each week from the week beginning 2nd November. As far as we are aware – this is a full list of the payment types affected by this change.

Post Office Collection

Back in March, Social Welfare extended the number of days within which a person could collect their social welfare payment at a post office from 20 days to 90 days. In August the Department changed that number of days back to 20 for the following payments –
Jobseekers, One-Parent Family Payment, Farm Assist, Back to Work Enterprise, Back to Work Family Dividend, SWA Supplements

All other recipients of state pensions and welfare payments to post offices still have the option to collect their social welfare payment at their post office each week or anytime for up to 90 days.
