In May 2013 the National Consumer Agency took enforcement action against Ryanair because they did not provide an email address on itheir website for Irish customers . Under e-Commerce legislation traders providing an e-commerce service, including airlines, must provide consumers with an email address.
Ryanair initially appealed the action – but that appeal was withdrawn last week and Ryanair have now launched a new email address for Irish passengers wishing to contact the customer service department.
The email address is email@example.com.
Ryanair say that this is “part of wide range of new initiatives aimed at improving the Ryanair passenger experience. “
Similar action was taken by the NCA against Aer Lingus at the same time – and they also appealed it but eventually dropped the appeal and put up an email contact address on their website too.
The Aer Lingus email is firstname.lastname@example.org
I have a real issue with people who moan about Ryan Air, they are cheap and, probably more importantly, keep excellent time. Service and response to issues come a VERY poor second. What to people expect? Everybody who travels regularly knows this. Everybody else should work by the maxim that if it looks to good to be true it usually is.
