Northern Rock Ireland Transfer to PTSB

We wrote about the planned transfer of Northern Rock’s Irish accounts to Permanent TSB  back in September.
The approval for the transfer was given in November – and all Northern Rock Ireland’s customers will have their savings accounts automatically taken over by Permanent TSB from January 3rd 2012.

Northern Rock Ireland customers do not need to do anything different – they can still log on to their online accounts on the Northern Rock website using the same account details , passwords etc . Phone contact is still via the same phone number.  (01) 602 0324.

The postal address from January 3rd will be changing to –

Former Northern Rock Ireland – Customer Support
Permanent TSB
56/59 St Stephens Green
Dublin 2

Eventually – customers of the former Northern Rock Ireland will be able to access their  accounts through Permanent tsb’s online banking site –  www.open24.ie.

The main change is that  savings are now covered (up to €100,000 per customer )  by the Irish Deposit Guarantee Scheme . They were previously covered by the UK scheme.
