Lower Electricity Bills from October 2018

All households in Ireland will see a reduction of €3.89 a month or €57.34 a year on electricity bills from October 1st 2018.

From 1st October 2018 , the CRU (Commission for Regulation of Utilities)  has decided that the PSO Levy will be decreased  to €3.48 a month from €7.69 (ex VAT) . This will result in a new annual charge of  €47.40 (inc VAT)   – reduced from €104.74 (inc VAT) .

This will mean a reduction overall of €57.34 a year on everyone’s residential electricity bill.

This PSO is imposed by the Government on all electricity customers regardless of their supplier and is shown as a separate item on electricity bills. It is designed to recover the additional costs associated with electricity from specified sources of generation, including sustainable, renewable and indigenous sources.
