Amongst all the other increased charges and taxes coming into force this new year in Ireland – there is also an increase to the Dog Licence Fee.
The fee for an individual annual dog licence has risen from €12.70 to €20 – from January 1st 2012.
The cost of a general dog licence (multiple dogs) – has risen from €253.95 to €400 a year.
A new ‘lifetime of dog’ licence is now available from 1 January 2012 and it costs €140.
Failure to have a dog licence can result in an on-the-spot fine of €30.
Failure to pay on-the-spot fines can lead to prosecution in District Court with a maximum fine of €1904.61 and/or 3 months imprisonment
