Child Benefit will be cut in January 2011.
There will be a €10 per month cut for the first and second child.
The rate for the 3rd and subsequent child was €37 a month higher than the first 2 children.
This difference is being cut – so the third child rate will now be €27 higher than the rate for child 1 +2
Child Benefit Monthly Rates
First and Second Child 2010 Rate €150 New Rate : €140
Third Child 2010 Rate €187 New Rate €167
Fourth and Subsequent Child 2010 Rate €187 – New rate € 177
Example : Someone with 4 children will have a cut of €50 a month – from €674 to €624
