When is the Date of Budget 2018 ?

Update – If you are looking for information about the upcoming Budget in Ireland – that will be Budget 2019 and it will be announced on Tuesday October 9th 2018.

Since Budget 2014 – the date of the Irish Budget announcement has been in  the early part of  October to fit in with EU budget dates and timetables.

The date of Budget 2018  will be October 10th 2017 – which falls on a Tuesday.

For many years , prior to Budget 2014 , Budget Day was held in the first week of December – just before the start of the Christmas Shopping season.

October Budgets – coming just after the Dail’s  long summer holiday  – means less time for leaks and rumors than there was in the days of December budgets.

We have some idea of the general scope of Budget 2018  – it is generally expected to be positive with tax cuts and spending increases totalling about €1.2 Billion overall.

It looks like Michael Noonan will not be delivering Budget 2018.

Following the Taoiseach’s announcement to step down – Minister Noonan stated that he does not wish to be considered for Cabinet by his successor, whoever that may be.

Michael Noonan has been  Minister for Finance since March 2011 and he has introduced 6 annual budgets and one supplementary budget.
