Property Tax Rates 2020

Under Property Tax regulations – local Councils can adjust the annual property tax rates  , up or down each year, by as much as 15% from the base rate. All the decisions for 2020  LPT had to be made by September 30th 2019 – and these are the results of all the local authorities decisions on the Property Tax Rates for 2020 .

These are the councils that have changed their  property tax rates from 2019

  • Carlow increased by 5%
  • Clare increased by 15%
  • Cork County increased by 5%
  • Donegal increased by 15%
  • Tipperary – reduced by 10%
  • Kerry – increased by 10%
  • Kildare increased by 7.5%
  • Kilkenny increased by 15%
  • Leitrim increased by 15%
  • Limerick increased by 7.5%
  • Monaghan increased by 15%
  • Offaly increased by 15%
  • Roscommon increased by 15%
  • Sligo increased by 15%
  • Tipperary increased by 10%
  • Wicklow increased by 10%

The following councils will be charging the standard rate of LPT  in 2020 :

Cavan, Cork City, Galway County, Galway City,  Louth, Mayo , Meath , Westmeath, Wicklow .

Cork County 5% more
Donegal 15% more
Kerry 10% more
Kildare 7.5% more
Kilkenny 15% more
Laois – 10% more
Leitrim 15% more
Limerick City & County : 15% more
Longford  15% more
Monaghan 15% more
Offaly 15% more
Roscommon 15% more
Sligo 15% more
Tipperary 10% more
Waterford 2.5% more
Wexford 10% more
Wicklow 10% more

How much extra Property Tax Will You have to Pay

A 15% increase will result in the following annual Property Tax risess

  • Band 1 €13 increase
  • Band 2 €33 increase
  • Band 3 €47 increase
  • Band 4 €60 increase
  • Band 5 €74 increase
  • Band 6 €87 increase
  • Band 7 €101 increase
  • Band 8 €114 increase
  • Band 9 €128 increase
  • Band 10 €141 increase
  • Band 11 €155 increase
  • Band 12 €168 increase
  • Band 13 €182 increase
  • Band 14 €195 increase
  • Band 15 €209 increase
  • Band 16 €222 increase
  • Band 17 €236 increase

The following local authorities will charge 15% less than the standard LPT again in 2020

Dublin City Council
Dun Laoghaire + Rathdown Council
South Dublin County Council

Other Reduced Rates

A 10% cut to LPT will be made by Fingal County Council (The same as 2019)
