Property Tax Amounts 2017

Under Property Tax regulations – local Councils can adjust the annual property tax amounts , up or down each year, by as much as 15% from the base rate. All the decisions for 2017 had to be made by September 30th 2016 – and these are the results of all the local authorities decisions on the Property Tax Amounts for 2017 .
This year , for the first time, three local authorities have voted to charge more in 2017 than the standard rate set by government.

Councils charging more than the standard rate of LPT in 2017

Galway County  10% on top of standard rate.
Limerick City  10% on top of the standard rate.
Limerick County 10% on top of the standard rate.
Wexford  5%  on top of the standard rate.

The following  councils will be charging the standard rate of LPT as set by the government in 2017:

Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork County, Cork City Donegal,
Galway City,Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Leitrim,
Louth, Mayo , Meath ,  Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo,
Tipperary, Waterford City and County, Westmeath,  Wicklow .

The following local authorities have decided to make the maximum 15% cut to LPT again in 2017

Dublin City Council
Dun Laoghaire + Rathdown Council
Fingal County Council
South Dublin County Council

Other Reduced Rates

A 3% cut to LPT will be made by Longford County Council,
