If your heating controls are up to current standards (digital , 24hr 7 day timer with min 2 zone control) - then you won't need to upgrade them. Get quotes from a few plumbers - SEAI and NOn SEAI. I looked at getting a new Boiler, got Bord Gais to come to the house and price it up, the cost would have been close to €3,000 for new boiler and upgrade heating controls and labor.
