The Budget for a given year is always announced in the previous year – so the date of Budget 2019 will be October 9th 2018 – which falls on a Tuesday.

For many years , prior to Budget 2014 , Budget Day was held in the first week of December – just before the start of the Christmas Shopping season.
Since Budget 2014 – the date of the Irish Budget announcement has been in the early part of October to fit in with EU budget dates and timetables.
October Budgets – coming just after the Dail’s long summer holiday – means less time for leaks and rumours than there was in the days of December budgets.
We have some idea of the general scope of Budget 2019 – it is generally expected to be positive with tax cuts and spending increases totalling about €1.8 Billion overall.
