On the original Irish Water application forms the main contact numbers were 1890 numbers.
We have written before about the potential high costs of ringing 1890 numbers – especially from mobile phones. Waiting for half an hour on an 1890 line could cost as much as €13.50 See this link: Cost 0f 1890 Calls
We were hoping that the government departments and state owned companies such as Irish Water would stop using these 1890 numbers or the phone companies would include them in the inclusive call bundles .
The good news is that sometime in the past year – Irish Water stopped using 1890 numbers and now use 1850 instead. This should work out cheaper for most people. (But 1850 numbers are still not included in phone companies inclusive bundles)
Here are the alternative numbers you can use for calling Irish Water – which are normal Dublin landline numbers . If you have an inclusive calls bundle that includes some or all calls to landlines – the call will be included in the bundle and will be cheaper than calling 1850.
