Complaints about Broadband and Phone Line Providers

Comreg (Commission for Communications Regulation) is the place you need to complain to if you are not satisfied with the service provided by your landline provider.

Comreg publish the complaints figures regularly – and we took a look at the latest figures for complaints about fixed service providers. That would be the providers of “landline” and broadband services to homes via  phone lines or cable . The figures provided by Comreg were for  Sky , Eir , Virgin and Vodafone.

The company with the lowest complaint rate in the 6 months from Oct 2017 to March 2018 was – Virgin Media   – with just 7 per 100,000 customers.

The company with the highest complaint rate in the same 6 months was Eir with  85 complaints per 100,00 customers. More than 10 times the rate of complaints made about Virgin.

The second highest complaints rate for fixed lines was with Vodafone – who had 60.5 per 100,000 customers .

Sky Ireland were at 36.5 complaints per 100,000 – less than half that of Eir but still 5 times the rate of complaints about Virgin.

These complaint figures might be something you should take into account when looking at choosing a new landline and broadband provider for your home.  Sometimes people look for reviews of broadband providers online – which can be useful – but the complaints figures give a good idea of the servcice provided ,or lack of it,by the providers.
