Hugh - you got a response. No credit rating is better than a bad one. Have you ever borrowed any money or had a credit card? If you think you should have a good credit rating - you should query it with the ICB. If you were expecting a bad report - then be thankful it isn't.

i am living in an old solid single walled concrete house that was belong to my grandparents , its over 70 years old and in a very exposed part of Kerry ,
there are no double glazed windows , and the attic is only partly insulated , (only what i could get and put in myself ) and my heating is a back boiler from a range that heats a few rad's .
i was thinking of digging a foundation around the walls and making a cavity and pumping in insulation and installing double glazed windows .....
can you advise me or let me know if i can get any grants for this work ,
I'm unemployed but can do a lot of the work myself
i cant spend another winter like the one we just had

Iomar - you are probably talking about the bottled gas are you? The prices discussed here are for natural gas supplied direct to your house via a pipe. Not all towns can get natural gas in Ireland yet. The bottled gas is more expensive because of the transport and sales costs.

On jan 15 flo gas have charged me 60 cent plus vat per liter for gas. At the time had I been using home heating oil I could have purchased it for 48.7 cent per liter. The price of gas in my view should be similar to that of home heating oil to encourage people to burn a cleaner fuel.Since then I have been charged 63.95 cent per liter for gas from flo gas. I am considering changing to oil. Why is gas so expensive?

Siobhan,if you are only sending your child for 3 morns a week no service can offer you a place under the ECCE scheme rules, if it means turning down a child who req 5 days a week. Is this what the service meant when they said they had no places?

re Nathlie's post-if you are sending your child for 3 1/2 hrs per day, the €20 is not a voluntary contribution,it is payment for the 2 1/2 hrs per week you are using the service for that the OMYCA does not cover. Also the service must supply 111 days service between Jan and June 2010 so they are entitled to charge for the first week in Jan as long as they still give you 111 days service (these days would generally run in line with the local primary schools opening dates) hth....
