Comparison of Life Insurance costs in Ireland :
The Irish Financial Regulator carried out a small survey of both Term Life Insurance and Mortgage Protection insurance in February 2008.
Prices were compared from 8 insurers –
The following examples were used in the comparison
Term life insurance:- €400,000 cover over 30 years for someone aged 29.
Term life insurance:- €350,000 cover over 25 years for someone aged 34.
Term life insurance:- €210,000 cover over 20 years for someone aged 45.
Mortgage protection :- €450,000 cover over 30 years for someone aged 28.
Mortgage protection :- €500,000 cover over 27 years for someone aged 33.
Mortgage protection :- €250,000 cover over 10 years for someone aged 54.
Comparing the quotes for Non Smoking Males – the lowest premiums in 5 out of 6 of the samples came from New Ireland (Part of Bank of Ireland). Only once were they were beaten into 2nd place – by Irish Life on the price for the Mortgage protection for the 28 year old over 30 years.
The savings that could be made on some quotes were as much as 11 euro a month – which could add up to around 4000 euro over 30 years.
