Bord Gais Energy – Discounts for Switchers

With the gas market in Ireland fully deregulated since July – it was a certainty that Bord Gais would introduce energy discounts.
Centrica – the new owners of Bord Gais Energy will be keen to try and increase customer numbers – even though they are already the biggest supplier of gas in the country. The fact that they are allowed to keep the trusted Bord Gais name and branding will make the task a lot easier than having to launch a new company and brand.

Bord Gais Energy are soon to start offering discounts of 10% off their “standard rates”  – for anyone switching both electricity and gas. The 10% discount is only for 12 months – followed by a 5% discount.
Bord Gáis Energy will also be offering Tesco Clubcard points for new dual fuel customers. There are 1000 clubcard points for customers who sign up a for one year and 4000 for those agreeing to a two year contract. Teco clubcard points can be used towards Bord Gais Energy bills – and 4000 would currently get €80 off your bill.

Whilst these discounts might sound fairly good – you can still get lower prices than these new Bord Gais Energy offers  – with Energia.
If you switch gas and electricity to Energia at the Energia website – you can get €50 cashback – and their prices are the cheapest anyway.

Note:  Because Centrica bought Bord Gais Energy – the new name for Bord Gais Eireann is Ervia – read more about that here
