Leeds Building Society Stop Home Loans in Ireland

Leeds Building Society (Ireland) have stopped offering mortgages to new customers as from 14th September 2009. They first entered the Irish mortgage market in 2006 . They were offering a Euribor tracker mortgage of  3.25% above the Euribor rate .  They say this is a temporary measure.

Irish Nationwide launch new 3.75% savings rate

Irish Nationwide Building Society have just started a new instant access deposit account with an interest rate of 3.75% – the highest rate currently available in Ireland. It is available on balances from €1 to €20k .

Halifax have the same 3.75%  savings rate – but only for 12 months and the maximum balance is €10k

First Active closures and changes.

Last January First Active announced that they were  merging with Ulster Bank to create a single bank.  From today  (Sept 1st) -  First Active will no longer offer new savings accounts .

If you are an existing First Active savings customer, your account will continue to operate as normal. Customers can contact  First Active on  1800 303 068.
The following First Active branches will be closing in the next few months  and the customers will then be serviced by a nearby Ulster Bank branch.
